Membership Update 12.1.19

December 1, 2019 by Lauren Law

It’s hard to believe it’s Dec. 1 and one month since we launched the SENP membership enrollment campaign. Every week we have had new members sign on in all areas:

139 by end of week 1

219 by end of week 2

273 by end of week 3

301 by end of week 4

Please encourage your neighbors to join and the SENP Board discourages anyone from faulting any person or any area if they choose not to join. We would like this effort to bring our community closer together and hope that all will see the benefit and join if they are able to.

We sent a survey out to 273 members as of 11.24.19. So far 95.7% of new members who returned the survey said they would like to start the patrols as soon as possible.

Before we can launch we have to sign the car contract with the Dallas Police Department and we’re hoping that process will go quickly and smoothly. It’s a busy time of year and we’ll do our level best to get the patrols in place as soon as possible.

We will keep enrollment open a bit longer but it won’t be open indefinitely. If you plan join, we’d suggest join NOW! The date we start patrols will be the date your payment will be counted as effective for your membership. If anyone joins after this date, the enrollment effective date will be the same as our original effective date and they annual fee won’t be prorated. Sign up now to get the full benefit.

Thank you for your continued support and be sure to visit the FAQ on our website, https://schreiberenp.org/overview/frequently-asked-questions/

November 24, 2019 by Lauren Law

Membership Enrollment Week 3

We’re making progress! As of 11/24/19, membership in each area is as follows:

Area 1= 102 members (37.4% of total)

Area 2= 45 members (16.5% of total)

Area 3= 126 members (46.1% of total).

273 Total Members

Please encourage your neighbors to join.

Here are some tips to help reduce crime in general and if you plan to be out of town during Thanksgiving week:

-Turn on front porch lights every night

-Install cameras near entries/gates

-Lock all gates, front, side, back

-Post alarm company signs front and back

-Get a dog because barking can help deter criminals

-Get a quality home alarm with glass break/ motion/loud alarm

-Remove items from cars/lock cars

-Ask a neighbor or friend to pick up mail and papers when you’re out of town

-Don’t post the dates you’ll be out of town on social media

-Sign up for Schreiber Neighborhood Patrol—a great gift to you and yours! www.schreiberenp.org

Happy Thanksgiving. We’re thankful to everyone who has joined SENP and to all the volunteers helping to make this program possible!

Membership Update 11.17.19

Membership Enrollment Week 2

We’re a third of our way to the goal!

example of patrol business card with cell number
Example of the business card members only will receive with the SENP patrol officer’s cell number.

We’re at the end of our 2-week Schreiber Expanded Neighborhood Patrol enrollment campaign and we wanted to give you an update. We began enrollment on Nov. 2 and in the last two weeks we’ve received 219 enrollments which break out as follows:

Area 1-87 members & 39.73% of total

Area 2-30 members & 13.70% of total

Area 3-102 members & 46.57% of total.

Total members 219.

Our goal from the start was to obtain 50% of homes in each area so that we can afford 20 hours per week/52 days per year in each area. This breaks out as follows: Area#1-200 homes (out of 400 homes) Area#2-209 homes (out of 418 homes) Area#3-244 homes (out of 488 homes) Total 653 homes=33.53% of the 50% goal with 219 total homes enrolled. As you can see, we have a way to go to reach our goal.

What we may do is keep enrollment open through November and December but start patrols for those who have paid in December as soon as we possibly can. However, before we can commit to patrols beginning in December our DPD ENP coordinator is trying to find enough DPD officers to patrol and tells us that there is a shortage of officers to fill off duty assignments such as events and ENPs. So far, we only have two officers who have committed to patrolling our area and for 20 hours per week we need at least four or five officers to accomplish this, especially in light of the new City of Dallas off-duty policy which will regulate the amount of overtime police officers can work.

If we are able to start patrols in December, we will ask the officers to patrol the areas based on the membership percentage that have signed up so far in each area. For instance: Area 1: 87/219 = 39.73% of the 20 patrol hours per week Area 2: 30/219 =13.70% of the 20 patrol hours per week Area 3: 102/219 =46.57% of the 20 patrol hours per week We feel this may be the only equitable way to divide the patrol hours until we can get closer to the 50% of each area for which we had originally hoped.

To get to our original household goals, we are asking all residents who have signed on so far to try and encourage at least three (3) of your neighbors to join. Our street coordinators have done a great job of rallying neighbors early on to get verbal commitments but it’s now time to get everyone who committed in the last year to actually join. This is going to be the only way we will be successful and meet our goals. Thanks for your continued support. Should you have any questions, comments or concerns, please email [email protected] and one of our board members will reply to you.
