January 31, 2022 by Lauren Law

Thanks for joining SENP for 2022. We’ve hit a little over 500 members which is about 100 fewer than last year.  Enrollment closes, today, Monday, Jan. 31 so if you have any neighbors who still want to join, please send them this website:  https://schreiberenp.org and ask them to join from a computer. Thanks to all the street coordinators and Leads in Schreiber and Forestcrest for their help during our enrollment. We couldn’t do it without them, or you, our members, so thanks for your continued support of this neighborhood patrol.

SENP 2021 Member Meeting Summary

October 31, 2021 by Lauren Law

The Schreiber Expanded Neighborhood Patrol (SENP) annual meeting was October 14, 2021. Below is a summary of some of the key learnings from the meeting.

  • SENP is looking for a new board member. Please email Lauren Law at [email protected] if you are interested to serve in this capacity.  You will be doing a very good service to our neighborhood.
  • In the event of an emergency, we are to call 911 first.  Then call the phone number of the off-duty police patrol. If you call the off-duty DPD police SENP cell phone number and no one answers, leave a voicemail.
  • One of the valuable services provided to us when we join SENP is that when we are going to be out of town, we can notify the off-duty police patrol officers, and they will keep an extra eye on our house while we are away. They’ll do a perimeter check of the windows and doors.
  • Currently eight Dallas Police Department officers patrol our neighborhood at 55 to 65 hours per week.  The SENP goal is 70 hours of patrolling, but officers are hard to find.
  • Officers patrol 10pm to 6am – 4 days per week; 6am to 2pm – 3 days per week; and 2pm to 10pm – 5 days per week.
  • 2021 (Jan.1-September):  5 Burglaries, 21 BMVs, 3 Theft, 1 Criminal Mischief, 3 Stolen Vehicles—33 Total—we’ve seen a 54% decrease in crime from 2020 to 2021, thus far.
  • 2020 (Jan. 1-Sept.): 10 Burglaries, 26 BMVs, 9 Thefts, 16 Criminal Mischief, 10 Stolen Vehicles—71 Total, BMVs/Thefts Up—a 22% increase from 2019.
  • 2019 (Jan. 1-Sept): 8 Burglaries, 16 BMVs, 4 Theft, 11 Criminal Mischief, 17 Stolen Vehicles—58 Total
  • Survey results:
    • 96.89 % of members are satisfied or completely satisfied with SENP.
    • 25.91% of members made a call in the last 8 months to report a crime or suspicious activity.
    • 72 members have called the patrol cell to ask for out of town patrol service.
    • 96.37% plan to join SENP during the re-enrollment, which runs Nov. 1-Jan. 24.
    • 98.96% would recommend or consider recommending SENP.
  • If you know a member has moved, please email: [email protected] so we can pick up the yard sign.
  • If you would like to be added to the Schreiber Crime Watch email, chaired by Joyce Martin, please send her an email at[email protected].
  • Schreiber Crime Watch (crime analysis/reporting) and Schreiber Expanded Neighborhood Patrol (neighborhood patrol using off-duty DPD police officers funded by members) are two different entities but work together to help keep crime out of our neighborhood.

Member Update 12.8.19

  • Total members through 12/8/19 is 330, up from 301 last week.
  • Area 1-127 Area 2-59 Area 3-144
  • The letter of agreement with the Dallas Police Department was signed by SENP last week. Now we await approval from the DPD.
  • If we receive approvalthis week we will launch the program next Sunday and start with 30 hours per week.
  • Yard signs for our current membership will be ordered this week but distribution will not happen until after the new year to allow time for manufacturing and delivery. We will inform you when your yard sign is ready for pick up.
  • The officer cell phone will be activated this week and business cards containing the cell # will be ordered and distributed with the yard signs.
  • The cell number will be emailed the week that we launch the program. Please do not share the number with non-members since this is a benefit of membership.

We are posting updates on the SENP blog each week located on the website: www.schreiberenp.org.

Please continue to encourage your neighbors to join the program so that we can afford more patrol hours. Enrollment will continue until January 31, however, once we launch the program, annual fees will not be prorated when joining after the launch date.
