Report from a neighbor on Ridgeside: About 6:28 am on Thursday morning, pulling out of my driveway there was a black car (2018 Hyundai Elantra, license plate KGP7680) parked across the street from my house, facing Jesuit with his fog lights on. I could see his face and could tell it was a Black man with dreadlocks approximately shoulder/ear length. He was intentionally crouching in an effort to hide from me. I pulled to the end of our cul-de-sac and waited for him while I called my husband and texted Neighborhood Patrol. He turned around, drove down Ridgeside towards Welch and stopped again. He had his fog lights on. I pulled behind him and when I called to report the license plate number he turned north on Welch and then right on Ellensburg. I stopped following him at that point, but when my husband arrived home about 15 minutes later he was parked in the middle of the street and waiting. He stayed there for a while. Then he pulled to the end of our street at Drujon and parked again but sideways and stayed there until about 7:30 am. I did go back and check my cameras. It does appear that there was a driver in the 4 o’clock hour. He appeared to be alone. SENP Update: We had our SENP DPD coordinator run the license plate and the car isn’t registered to this neighborhood. We don’t know if this person was waiting for someone to come out and was picking them up or just up to no good. We decided it was appropriate to send out this warning. Please be on alert for this vehicle and call 911 first to report a suspicious vehicle in area. What can you do? We need to keep criminals out of our wonderful neighborhood! If you haven’t renewed for 2024 will you please do it today? We need everyone to renew by no later than 1/31/24 1. Make sure your external and internal video equipment is properly working & subscriptions are paid. 2. Look your doors, especially the back doors where the perpetrators seem to be entering. 3. Lock all gates on your property. 4. Close your garage doors.Set your home alarms. 5. Turn your lights on at night on your front and back porches. 6. If You See Something Suspicious, Please Say Something. Call 911 first! |
Thanking Our SENP DPD Patrol Officers: Holiday Bonus Request
We hope you had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! Thankful for our patrol officers in 2023 We currently have 9 officers who patrol our area between 60-70 hours a week, Monday-Sunday (one officer not shown). These officers take on this extra patrol before or after their shifts with the DPD. We thank them for taking time away from their families to help make our community a safer place to live. As shared in previous emails, our crime has reduced 63.38% from we first started the program, four years ago on December 25, 2019. The continuous presence of our officers has no doubt contributed to that reduction in crime. If you would like to thank our officers for their year of dedication to our Schreiber community, please visit this link and make your gift today. We will keep this link open until Dec.15 and distribute to the officers before Christmas. You may also send a Zelle payment to Schreiber ENP at [email protected] or mail a check to SENP. Details found at this link. Update on SENP 2024 member enrollment We’re off to a slow start this year. At this time last year we had 198 sign ups and this year we’re only at 153. If you have already joined for 2024, bless you! If you haven’t, please rejoin SENP sooner than later so we can figure out our total budget for next year and let the 9 officers know if they’ll still be able to work with us in 2024. Thank you for your understanding. You can re-enroll now by visiting this link: https://schreiberenp.org/join. Thank you in advance for your generosity and we wish you and yours the safest and happiest of holidays. The SENP Board Lauren Law, Founder/President Jim Nugent, Treasurer |

SENP Annual Membership Meeting
We had about 35 people attend our SENP Annual Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 26.
Lauren Law/president (2nd from right) & Jim Nugent/treasurer (far left) shared a summary of SENP 2023 membership numbers, patrol shift hours, crime stats, patrol activity, member survey results, crime prevention tips and financials.
Beth Wing (4th from right), principal of W.T. White shared a summary of her W.T.W Principal report which included information about trash, traffic, attendance, turf field & track updates. We want to hear what’s happening with W.T. White because we all want to be good neighbors and part of that is getting to know each other and having open communication.
She’s invited the community to attend their Lights at White front porch event to celebrate the season on Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. They will feature their choir, jazz band and dance performances, plus goodies from the Student Council.

Q&A
Our officers are here to patrol our neighborhood and are not here to give tickets for wrong way parking/expired inspection stickers.
The large bus that gets parked on Rickover apparently belongs to a neighbor on Thunder Road and is illegally parked. This has since been looked into by SENP patrol officer who spoke with the driver on 10/24/22. He is on contract with DISD, transportation for inter school connections for students while the district is short on drivers. Our SENP officer advised him to park on school grounds and not on the neighborhood streets. He complied and left.
Officers are patrolling, even if you aren’t seeing them. We check patrol activity sheets each month against the DPD car rental records and each officer sends a text check in each time they are on patrol.
4-way stop sign at Willow and Drujon is being considered but is not being handled via SENP.
Keep reporting students who are hanging out in the residences and alleys near WT White High School to 911. Also report any speeders down alleyways or streets to 911.
Remind any person or company working at your home to lock their trucks or take all expensive tools inside.
2023 Enrollment Begins November 1
2023 begins November 1, 2022. Please visit https://schreiberenp.org/join/ to join today.
Any member not renewing should return their yard sign to SENP by
December 31, 2022.
Gay Donnell Willis Crime Update on District 13
Crimes against persons are down across the district by 5.45% when compared to last year.
District 13 has the lowest rate of crimes against persons in
all of Dallas.
Crimes against society are down by 2.53% compared to last year. (Crimes against society include gambling, drug offenses, prostitution, animal cruelty, weapon law violations, pornography/obscene materials.
District 13 has seen a 17.86% rise in crimes against property. Almost 98% of this rise is from Theft from Motor Vehicles, Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts/Accessories or Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle (UUMV.
Again let’s all do our part and TAKE, LOCK & HIDE property in all motor vehicles. Leaving items visible is an invitation for criminals to take your hard earned property. Don’t let them do that!
Homelessness Rapid Rehousing Initiative
Gay also gave a brief update on the Homelessness Rapid Rehousing Initiative, which surpassed its first year of housing over 1200 people. She asked that residents call 311 to report encampments as the City uses this data to prioritize where to reply resources. While asking for money from a sidewalk is a protected right, a panhandler may not enter a traffic lane–please call 911 if you see this. She also reminded us who want to help others to give through a nonprofit that is better equipped to help versus giving money, food or other items as it trains panhandlers to stay where they are.
If you would like to receive a copy of Gay’s entire presentation, email [email protected].
